6. He had a hard time when he was young:
His father Charles was a Chinese Nationalist government spy and mother Lee-lee was a theater actress with a side business of Opium. One day Charles arrested Lee-Lee and the next instance he fell in love and married her. They already had 2 children on either side from their previous marriages. When Jackie was born, they tried to sell him to the doctor who had delivered him.
When the communist regime took over China in 1949, Jackie’s parents fled to Australia. Jackie joined a boarding school where he was taught acrobatic, music, martial arts etc. The hours were long and training strenuous. In his own words, Jackie used to get beaten every day.
5. A stunt that almost got him killed:
In 1986, while shooting the film ‘Armor of God’, he had to travel to Yugoslavia and immediately report on set for a stunt shooting. He was obviously suffering from jet-lag but went ahead with the stunt that needed him to jump off a wall onto a tree. The first attempt went well but when he tried for the second time, he missed and plummeted 12 meters down on a rock.
