A teacher seldom thinks beyond the welfare of her students. Her emotional involvement in each of them often gives her sleepless nights. To make their life easier, she goes to various lengths- whether it is taking extra classes without payment or buying them warm clothes with her own money.
A proud teacher wears her students’ achievements like a tiara on her head. A real teacher, whether young or old displays maniac energy when she starts teaching. Her passionate enthusiasm towards her subject makes us leap from the boring dingy classroom to the fierce era of freedom fighters.
Having said all this, teachers too are human beings and love to have fun. Although the gap between students and teachers has bridged over time, students still consider their teachers as otherworldly beings. In fact, students would be amazed at the similarities that teachers share with them. Given below is a list of 6 Fun Facts about teachers. Being one myself, I can vouch for the same!
1. Teachers look forward to holidays and free periods as much as the students!
Remember the times our joy escalated to crazy peaks when the Math teacher having 2 consecutive periods was on leave? Remember the first thing that one did on receiving the school diary was checking the list of holidays? Guess what… teachers do the same. They leap with joy when a mass bunk takes place ( there are exceptions of course ) and they too are quick to check out holiday list, duly memorizing which holidays are in combined with weekends.
2. Teachers love to see themselves being mimicked by their students!
All of us have at some point mimicked a teacher and evoked laughter. While we have this idea that teachers will be angry to see a poor imitation of themselves, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that teachers, in fact, love it! Students who have dared to imitate teachers at school functions would have noticed the subject of ridicule rolling in laughter at her imitated self. The reason for this is simple. A teacher is a proud parent who adores every display of talent coming from her children. So even if the talent means making fun of her, she takes it sportingly, knowing that there are no hidden intentions.
3. You can never come up with an original excuse for not doing your work!
Students are adept at not doing their school work on time, whether it is submitting a project or learning a definition. Teachers sometimes accept these excuses and sometimes they do not. By no means be fooled into thinking that the teacher has let you go as she believed your excuse to be genuine. REAL teachers have heard every excuse that exists. No matter how creative you are, the excuse will be a stale one. So the next time your teacher lets you off for not doing your work, it is simply because she is in a good mood.
4. The most hated period in a school year is the same for teachers and students – Exams!
There is no explanation required on why students hate exams. Surprisingly enough, teachers too hate exams. Not just because they have invigilation duties, which mostly consist of standing for long hours and keeping an eye on mischievous students who manage to communicate no matter how vigilant she is but also because the paper correction is a daunting task that she catches up on at every place she visits including the car park, visit the dentist and sometimes even the salon. Next time you have an exam, do wish you teacher ‘Best of luck’ too.
