Architecture is a very complex science. The architects are even more outstanding. Think about the time and effort every architect must put into to design a building.These architects must come up with new ideas for modern wonders.We usually don’t think much of the work put into to buildings and how they are designed and built.
That’s whyArchitects should get more attention and after reading this list we should have more appreciation towards architecture. Let’s not forget their history behind these wondrous buildings. Now here are some of the most amazing structures ever built by humans with the architects behind them.
10. London’s Gherkin
This “neo-futuristic” building is in London’s financial district. It is an icon to the London skyline and the world. It is 180 m tall with 33 floors of office space and 35 km of steel was used in the building of the Gherkin. It is the world recognized building. Although many people believe that it is public it is not. It was designed by Norman Foster and completed in 2003. It wasn’t until 2004 when it officially opened. However, It is now owned by a Brazilian billionaire. None the less it is a well designed and remarkable building in London.
It is no surprise that the worlds tallest building must be on this list. It opened in 2009 making it the worlds tallest building replacing the Cn Tower in Toronto. It is in Dubai which is a city in the United Arab Emirates. Construction started in 2004 and it was completed in 2009. The reason why the building was built was too increase world recognition of the Dubai. The building was designed by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. The building has received many prizes and is based on Islamic architecture. However, poor working conditions of the workers in the building led to many controversial topics.
8. Franklin Center
In Chicago, it is known more than for it’s hotdogs it is the city that invented the skyscraper. Franklin center is a skyscraper completed in 1989. It is 60 stories tall and is the 11 tallest in the united states. It is a building for at&t’s corporate headquarters. The building was also designed by Adrian D. Smith. It has Otis elevators and is a centerpiece to the Chicago skyline.
7. Elite Residence
Yet another skyscraper in Dubai. It has 87 floors and is third tallest in the world of residential buildings. It opened in 2012 and has apartments,pools, health clubs etc.
6. Ostankino Tower
Now this is not a tower that it is a skyscraper. It is a radio and tv tower. This tower is in Russia and is 4th tallest In the world. It was designed by Nikolai Nikitin. This tower was completed in 1967. It had an accident in 2000 killing 3 people.

5. Tuntex Sky Tower
Now this is an interesting skyscraper. It is in Taiwan. It used to be the tallest in Taiwan until the Taipei 101 but we will get to that to that a little later. This skyscraper is owned by Tuntex Group. This building is mostly for offices but is still one marvel to look at.
4. Chrysler Building
This building is in the wonderful city of New York.It is of art deco style of architecture. It is also the tallest brick building in the world believe it or not.It is one of America’s favorite buildings attracting visitors every year. It us actually not for the Chrysler car company now. It used to be for the corporation but now the children of Walter P. Chrysler inherit. It was designed by William van Alan. It wasn’t until 1930 when the building was completed and even thought it was built at about 4 floors a week no workers got hurt. The Chrysler building is truly a new York favorite among architects.
3. Zifeng Tower
This tower is located in Nanjing, China. It was started in 2005 and completed in 2010.
This building was also a project of Adrian smith. It includes a restaurant and a public observatory for tourists. It is also used for office space and there is a hotel too.
2. Burj Al Arab
It is a magnificent tower in Dubai. It us a jewel to Dubai and is a luxurious hotel. It is a very high rise hotel. It is really unique to look. You can tell that the hotel is uniquely crafted in the shape. And it opened in 1999 to resort company Jumeriah. It overlooks the Persian gulf. Now you might think this hotel is only for the rich but actually not. Many tourists choose to stay in the Burj al Arab and even has a water park.
1. Taipei 101
It is located in Taipei Taiwan. It was formally the worlds tallest until the burjKhalifa. It is the tallest and most environmentally friendly building In the world. It was designed by C.Y. Lee and was started in 1999. Then it was completed in 2004. It has 101 floors and five basement levels. What is interesting about the Taipei 101 is the ability to withstand typhoon winds and earthquakes. It is flexible and a damper which is a pendulum to offset the movements of strong gusts. It has eight segments which are a symbol in Chinese for prosperity. None of the less this towers is an amazing skyscraper. With its smart and unique designed, it is on of my favorite architecture.
