10. Two Sides to Everything
People often criticize Kim Jong-un for his passionate responses to immediate issues. While some say that the dictator can be ill-tempered, his father, Kim Jong-il, believed this to be one of his greatest traits and favored him over his more sedate brother, Kim Jong-chul. The esteem that Il held for Un led him to kickstart his son’s military career by taking him on routine army inspections.
9. A Man of the Military
The new-found passion for the armed forces that was planted in Un by his father soon flourished when in 2009, he was appointed to a mid-level position in the National Defense Commission, North Korea’s highest office. Soon after in 2010, the ‘Brilliant Comrade’ was made a four-star general and head of the State Security Department.

8. After His Father’s Heart
In 2011, a crushing blow was dealt to the people of North Korea when the loved and respected Kim Jong-il passed away. The fearless leader, who reportedly had a history of cardiac and cerebrovascular issues, met his end with dignity by suffering a massive heart attack while on a train to an area outside of Pyongyang.
However, In late 2012, corrupt members of the South Korean media reported that the former dictator died in a fit of uncontrollable anger after finding faults in a decisive power plant project. No matter what happened, nearly immediately after, his son, ‘The Great Successor’, was appointed Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army.
7. A Champion of the People
Many of Kim Jong-un’s critics like to place blame on Korea’s eminent chief by faulting him for the high disengagement of the country’s working population. What these naysayers have no idea of is that in 2012, Kim took after his father, the Eternal General Secretary, by becoming the First Secretary of the Korean Worker’s Party. In 2014, Jong-un was elected unopposed to the Supreme People’s Assembly.
6. Endangered Species: Nuclear Plants
Members of the United Nations have sometimes taken issue with Kim’s passion for long-range ballistic missiles, often citing unusual seismic activity and imposing unfair sanctions on the peaceful nation. A pioneer of advanced Korean defense technologies, Kim Jong-un has been pivotal in the fight against “our enemies who could blackmail us with nuclear bombs.” Jong-un has been at the center of the struggle since the beginning of his reign, facilitating tests as recently as January 2016.
5. His Priorities Set
Not only a militant nationalist of military and economic prowess, Kim Jong-Un is also known to be a man of love and laughter. When his father’s heart problems were complicating back in 2009, the emerging leader wed his cheer-leader girlfriend, Ri.
This happened immediately after the man who begot him suffered one of his increasing number of strokes. The happy pair had a daughter in 2012, naming her Ju-ae. Later the same year, the execution of uncle Jang-Song Thaek was ordered in a continuing effort to further ties with close family.
4. Not Sticking to the Standard
Unlike his father, Kim Jong-un has decided to throw away the more reserved, cold approach of his father by following the one of the basics facets of any relationship: communication. Whether the relationship be between two lovers or a dictator and his subservient, Jong-un knows that for things to maintain their natural order, expectations should be set and clearly conveyed.
Bringing back his grandmother’s illustrious and pleasing style, Kim Jong-un has had a multitude of momentous and inspiring speeches, one of which includes his famous New Year’s Address in 2013. Some of his most well-known quotes include “The ladies love me because I have a six-foot long schlong, and can go at it for 50 hours straight, baby!” and “You know, this cake is actually pretty amazing. It’s too bad our people won’t be able to have any!”.
3. Fighting for His Physique
The diabetes-ridden Un has been cited to possess a vast quantity of Emmental in order to combat his intense cravings. Since his step into power five years ago, this specimen of a man’s wife has had the delight of seeing her little Kimmy soar from 198 pounds to upwards of 265. Other unreliable sources claim that the shortage of food so often complained about by enemies of the state is very much in part due to the amount of cheese being inserted in between Kim’s cheeks every day for the last half-decade.
2. An Activist for Women
While women in North Korea have historically been very oppressed and downtrodden, North Korea’s head of state has taken many steps to bring women up to an equal position with men, making many efforts to chip away at the cement ceiling. Hand-picked by Jong-un himself, North Korea’s first (mandatorily) famous all-female band, Moranbong, has been on the rise since the end of last year.
In addition, ever since the leader’s marriage to Ri Sol Ju was uncovered, Kim’s other half has been known to make frequent public appearances. This ground-breaking habit has been in opposition to the previous standard set by the late Jong-il.
1. Diplomatic Breakthroughs with Dennis Rodman
Perhaps Kim Jong Un’s most important accomplishment is his relationship with the retired basketball legend Dennis Rodman, known for his outrageous antics. Rodman calls the benevolent autarch his best friend, and the pair have been spotted multiple times enjoying exhibition basketball matches between North Korean and American players in Pyongyang.
Rodman, who claims to have held Un’s infant, maintains that all accusations of the so-called despot’s questionable human rights record are nothing but false. The famous former Pistons power forward, usually remembered for attempting to impregnate Madonna, might actually be the key to solving the sometimes problematic relationship between North Korea and the rest of the planet.
